I was listening to Tenacious D the other day and the song "Wonder Boy" came on which reminded me of the video.
Which got me to thinking, why the ballz aren't there any good fantasy flicks? I always liked the older shit like Willow and Conan and Red Sonja, but what I like most looking back is how REAL everything is. When the characters walk into a village or crowded city, there was really dirt and sets and props, everything wasn't greenscreened to hell.
Also, that scene in - can't remember if it was one of the Conans or Red Sonja - where the wizard used his wizardy powers and while he did, he was breathing smoke. And not some silly flowy CG smoke, but they fucking hollywood-magic'd that shit and rigged a way for the dude to breath smoke. For some reason that scene always gets me giddy. Why can't movies be that magical any more?
Can anyone recommend some good fantasy adventure flicks with wizards and half-nakie amazon chicks and buff dudes slicing up rubber movie monsters and shit?

I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.
Most fantasy movies now are either all CG or suck balls.
I don't get around to watching a lot of movies anymore, but I really really liked the "Hellboy" movies, they used a good mix of both CG and costume. In Golden Army there is a setting called the "Troll Market" that I really dug. Also the fight with the Forest God.
Shit was bomb, uber fantasy feels
